Shelby Elmore is a model and Fitness Nutritionist from Colorado.

How did you fall in love with modeling?
I grew up watching Americas Next Top Model with my mom. When they did a season on petite modeling it gave me hopes for all of the shorties like myself and I decided to go for it.
How were you discovered?
I was hired as a fitness writer for Finish Line and modeled in all of my own articles. As the column gained traction I soon caught the attention of a few different agencies in Denver. I landed my first contract in 2013!
What’s one of the most interesting shoots that you’ve done?
I did a cross fit themed shoot for Finish Line & Under Armour Women. Mad props to the ladies who actually do cross fit! It was SO hard.
How would you define your personal style?
I’d say somewhere along the lines of ‘Sporty Chic’ if that’s a thing… I love a good crop top and I’ve definitely been known to wear a pair of black leggings with heals on a night out.
Where did you grow up? How have your roots influenced your sense of style?
I grew up in Boulder, Colorado. It is a very active town, so I’d say yes!
Who is your style icon and why?
I’ve been told @emrata and I have similar tastes in style, but I can’t narrow it down to just one. I follow so many awesome trendy ladies from Instagram and pull inspo from all of them!
Who is your favorite photographer and why?
@jsiegelphotography hands down. When working with him he is SO good at giving direction. I think that’s where a lot of photographers can improve. Properly communicating with and directing their models.
What advice would you give to aspiring models out there?
Don’t be afraid of how a few photos will turn out. For every 1 great photo, there are 50 bad ones. You need the ‘eyes closed and double chin’ shots to get to the real gems!
Do you edit your own photos? If yes, which programs do you use?
Yes! I actually con friends and family to take photos using my camera all of the time and then I do the edits. I primarily use Lightroom on my laptop and then do small edits on my phone using VSCO
